Game Rules
This concept with international game rules for hockey in electric wheelchairs (E-Hockey) has come about as a result of continuing developments in wheelchair hockey, nationally and internationally.
The real spirit was given during the World Games for E-Hockey in 1998 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, which was a fantastic happening for the development of this sport.
It is known that the way in which E-Hockey is played differs in the participating countries. Because of this it was decided at an international meeting during the Word Games, that the aim is to set up one set of rules and regulations to play E-Hockey. The most important goal to achieve is, that E-Hockey will be recognized as a Paralympics sport.
So now, in December 2001, you see the first concept “International Game Rules of Electric Wheelchair Hockey” before you. It relates mostly to the game the way it is played in Germany and the Netherlands, but also articles of the American/Canadian way of playing E-Hockey are inserted in this concept.
Hopefully every E-Hockey playing country can find it-self in these rules generally and takes this concept as starting point for international tournaments for national teams, so we can soon take a step forward in achieving our goal.
Obviously rules are never complete, but always liable to further developments.
